About Maryann
Hi friend! My name is Maryann Postiglione and I’m an artist, mom of 2 cats, and a multi-passionate person working with databases for nonprofits and of course the art you see here! We live in a cozy neighborhood in Portland, Oregon.
When I was a little girl (now grown up to be a little woman), I knew I always wanted to make art. I felt that all grown ups were once artists who had to give it up for one reason or another, like they lost their way somehow in the process of getting older. But life pulled me in a different direction. I stepped away from art, focused myself in work, relationships, and anything I defined as an “adult” ambition.
I continued to put my dreams on hold or hide them away in whatever spare time I had between work, relationships, and building up all the goals of what I thought meant being an adult. I slowly became one of those grownups who lost their way from their art skills with a very successful career in technology.
BUT. I. BURNED. THE. EFF. OUT.
I went so hard and fast to learn a skill, gain experience, yet to be involved in depending on a volatile work environment where I could–and have been several times–be laid off at a moment's notice. I remember sitting at my desk after another round of layoffs, feeling numb and unfulfilled, when it hit me—if I didn’t make time for art now, I’d put it off forever.
No, I had to go back to art, to take it seriously, and to cultivate an income to support me in times where I may not have money to fall back on from the instability and extremely demanding workplace.
So, 3 years ago, I threw myself into gathering skills, creating as much as possible, and saying yes to international workshops and residencies—all to reconnect with my creative little girl self. Making art isn’t just about personal fulfillment; it’s about proving that a life built around creativity can be stable, meaningful, and joyful.
And honestly? I’m just getting started.
I’m beyond excited to create work that feels like home, builds community, and reminds others—especially those who feel lost—that it’s never too late to find your way back to what you love.
